There was once was a sheep
Who had a big secret to keep
So he told a lie a day
To avoid giving it away
Eventually he started
To believe the lies he parted
And when he caught sight
Of a wolf that night
No one came to his side
They all ran to hide
So he stood alone to fight
With all his might
For he was not afraid
Even when no one stayed
The wolf with a toothy grin
Asked him if he'd been
Waiting for him to arrive
So he can keep everyone alive
He told the wolf, yes
It was for the best
If he'd tell them they'd be scared
Of the teeth that you bared
But now it was just us
We can discuss
If you leave my flock alone
I'll throw you a bone
Otherwise feel the pain
Of all that you have gained
From eating other sheep
Who have done nothing but keep
Their hearts happy and content
With the lives they were lent
The wolf confused
And amused
By this sheep's intent
Waited to see what it meant
To stand in his way
On this fateful day
But with nary a sound
The flock came leaping abound
Coming around
The poor hound
Outnumbered at last
It ran hastily past
All the sheep that had departed
Now wholehearted
Heard the fear
Of the monster's sneer
So now wolves howl at night
For they had been given quite a fright
Never wanting to be alone
Afraid to be on their own
They learned a lesson from that sheep
Promises are meant to keep
For you never know
When Nature will bestow
The gift to see
Others need you as much as me
